This is an entry-level position that will assist with the development of new products supporting the Product Development Department. This position will support the implementation of Product Development production runs, collect and manage data, and update/manage Product Development documents/files.


  • Assist in preparations for Product Development production runs.
  • Collect samples and run analytical equipment during Product Development production runs. Record observations.
  • Activate new formulations/formula changes in accounting software and production programs.
  • Create and maintain Raw Material Specifications, Finished Product Specifications, Formula Documents and Product Development files.
  • Coordinate the collection and shipping of product samples for customer evaluation, analytical testing, and palatability trials.
  • Maintain ongoing analysis of ingredient data; compare to formulation software and make recommendations for updates if required.
  • Independently manage Product Development product retain inventory.
  • Independently monitor and update product control samples on the production floor.
  • Assist with new product launches, including preparation work and monitoring the production run to ensure product meets specification.
  • Assist with bench-top trials.
  • Manage special on-going Product Development/Process Improvement projects as assigned.
  • Assist in maintaining customer specification databases.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams to execute product development plans and on-going projects.
  • Make updates to formulation software, as required.
  • Perform in depth analysis, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Set expectations, track/communicate results, and create an environment of accountability for results and actions.
  • Participate in a high quality team environment through effective teamwork and self-management with a positive attitude.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor that reflects the Company’s commitment to quality, continuous improvement, and respect for individuals.
  • Provide a high level of support to the next person in line.
  • Maintain a food-safe sanitary environment at all times.
  • Escalate any non-conforming product/equipment/material to the appropriate manager/supervisor immediately.
  • Promote a positive proactive environment where input from team members is valued and encouraged.
  • Oversee ongoing projects, studies, and databases, as necessary.
  • Provide back-up support for other roles, as necessary.
  • May require occasional overnight travel.
  • May require occasional night shift and/or weekend shift for special projects.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Food Science or other closely related field.
  • One (1) year in food or feed manufacturing preferred.
